Our journey into Real Estate began in 1976 after an unhappy experience of selling and purchasing our home. At that point we decided that we did not want to rely on a Real Estate Agent again. In 1980 we obtained our Salesperson licenses. We sought out the best company that gave us the best training---at that time it was Valley Realty in Hayward. About 2 years after we joined Valley, it was bought out by Coldwell Banker. Like Valley Realty, Coldwell Banker was the industry leader in a comprehensive contract and forms that protected both buyers and sellers. Our stay was educational, but after about 6 months we decided that we preferred to be on our own. In 1982 we opened Hodges Realty in Hayward.

We are a husband and wife team that is dedicated to providing professional real estate services to both buyers and sellers in the East Bay Area. We believe that two Realtors are better than one and work together to help our clients. We are present at all inspections, Open Houses, showings and signings at the Title Company.

Our Goal:
Our goal is to be a problem solver – helping families reach their dream of home ownership or guide the sellers on the best path to take. We always try to be professional and educate our clients on the process along the journey.
We always put our listings in the MLS. We don’t believe in holding onto a listing and trying to sell it ourselves, also known as a ‘pocket listing’. We want to make sure that the house gets as much market exposure as possible, so when we input into the MLS, it automatically goes on to the Zillow, Trulia & Realtor.com websites. This way our clients know that whatever offer comes in, the offer should be the best because it has been exposed to the largest market possible.

We are very active in our Central County Marketing Group. We meet on Wednesday mornings to pitch new listings and listings that are ‘coming soon’, any price adjustments, and talk about buyers that we are working with and their needs. We also get ‘real time feedback’ from our colleagues on market trends. We connect and network with about 100 Realtors and Affiliates (lenders, title company representatives and home inspectors) who attend these meetings.

For sellers, we work for the seller, and we don’t try to represent the buyer on our listings. Some realtors do try to sell their listings themselves---this is called a ‘double-ender’. They make more commission, but it is a disservice to the seller. (If you were to sue someone, you would never share the same attorney.) Real Estate should be the same way. Our contract is with you, the seller, and to represent you, not the buyers. For buyers, we work for the buyer and look out for their best interests in the purchase of their home.

A bit about us:
We both grew up in Hayward, went to Hayward Public Schools, and graduated from Cal State Hayward. We have been married for 46 years and have four children and five grandchildren. We have been volunteering in the community for over 30 years. We have been involved with Youth Soccer, both coaching, refereeing. registration and serving on the Board; serving on HOA Boards, and PTA Boards. We have both served on Bay East Association's Professional Standards and Grievance Committees and Pat has served on the Association’s Board of Directors. Paul is currently on the Board of Directors for the Hayward Area Parks and Recreation District and Pat is on the Hayward Unified School District’s Personnel Commission, Castro Valley/Eden Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and the Hayward Area Historical Society’s Board of Directors.
